Add, Edit, or Delete Asset Types

An Asset Type is a template for an asset, providing predefined parameters specific to the asset. Crestron Fusion® software provides a large set of predefined asset types (such as Control Processor, Touch Screen, Projector, and so forth). You can add additional asset types that are needed within your organization.

You can:

Add an Asset Type

1. Select the Objects tab at the bottom of the tree view, and then select the Asset Types folder.



2. Select Add in the tool bar.
3. Enter a Name.
4. Select an Economic Lifespan from the drop‑down menu. By default, this field is set to Do not depreciate. The drop‑down menu entries are in years.
5. You can define a time frame for servicing the asset type by selecting values from the two Service Interval drop‑down menus. The service time frame can be defined in Days, Weeks, Months, or Years.
6. Enter any optional comments in the Notes: text box.
7. Select Save & Close to complete the add process.

Driver Management

Drivers can be associated with asset types. A driver file is used to define attributes and their default settings specific to the asset type. You can add multiple drivers to an asset type. For example, you may have several different projectors within your organization and each one supports different attributes. Loading multiple projector drivers allows you to add the projectors to your system and correctly control them.

1. Select the Objects tab at the bottom of the tree view, and then select the Asset Types folder.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit button in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. From the Drivers tab, select Add Driver. A dialog box for uploading the driver file is displayed.
4. Select Browse, and then navigate to and select the appropriate driver file. Driver files are in XML format and will have an “.xml” extension.
5. Select Upload to load the driver.
6. If you want to add additional drivers, repeat steps 3 through 5.
7. Select Save & Close.

Drivers can be removed from asset types. This does not delete the driver file; it only disassociates the driver from the asset type.

To remove a driver:

1. Access the Asset Types folder as described above.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. From the Drivers tab, select Delete for the driver you wish to delete.
4. Select OK button on the confirmation dialog that is displayed.

Add an Email Rule

Email Rules can be associated with asset types. You can set up Email Rules for Service Due, Economic Lifespan Expired, and Moved In To/Out Of Room. By setting up these rules, you can generate event specific emails and route them to the correct people.

1. Access the Asset Types folder as described above.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. From the Email Rules tab, select Add.
4. Select an email rule from the Email Rule drop‑down menu.
5. Select an email template from the Email Template drop-down menu. Crestron Fusion comes with default email templates for End of Life and Service Due. Your organization can create custom Asset Type Email Templates from the Email Templates folder.
6. Depending on the selected email rule, several notification options will be displayed. Select when you want the notifications to be generated by selecting the appropriate check boxes.
7. Select the roles by clicking in the appropriate check boxes in the Associated Roles section that should receive the email notifications.
8. Select Update to make the changes.
9. If you wish to add additional email rules, repeat steps 3 through 8.
10. Select Save & Close to complete the process.

Email rules can be edited or deleted from asset types.

To edit an email rule:

1. Access the Asset Types folder as described above.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. From the Email Rules tab, select an email rule and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit it by selecting it from the list.
4. Change the parameters you wish to edit.
5. When the changes are complete, select Update.

To delete an email rule:

1. Access the Asset Types folder as described above.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. From the Email Rules tab, select an email rule and then select Delete in the toolbar.
4. Select Delete on the confirmation dialog.
5. Select OK.

Edit an Asset Type

1. Access the Asset Types folder as described above.
2. Select an asset type, and then select Edit in the toolbar. You can also edit an object by selecting it from the list.
3. Make any desired changes.
4. Select Save & Close.

Delete an Asset Type

1. Select one or more asset types in the list, and then select Delete button in the tool bar. A Delete confirmation window is displayed.
2. Confirm the deletion by selecting Delete.
3. Select Close when finished.
