Microsoft® Windows® Backups
Crestron Studio® was designed to be compliant with all the standard Windows folders and backup software. It uses SQL databases which are in locations usually backed up by default by most Microsoft® Windows® backup programs. On Microsoft® Windows® 7 the locations are:
C:\Users\<username>\Documents\Crestron\Projects\
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Crestron\Projects\
C:\Users\Public\Documents\Crestron\Tools\Data\
A Microsoft® Windows® backup program should be able to restore your projects data just like any other file. The only exception would be in a case of application crash. Currently, you must reopen the project or alternatively, you can stop the Windows service name "SQL Server (Crestron)" during a backup/restore (but first make sure Crestron Studio® isn't running at the time!)
Project Backups
Projects can be backed up by exporting or by creating a restore point.
A system project export is similar to a SIMPL archive, where the application will export the project and all user devices/modules that project is using. Note that devices originating from the Crestron Tools database will not be in the archive.
A restore point (essentially an export) can be created every X minutes and/or on every build/compile. By default, restore points are created in the same folder as the project itself, but you can optionally configure them to export to a different user-specified folder.
Project Folder Management
Each project's folder structure is managed by Crestron Studio® while the project is open. Files added while the project is open are not saved until the project is saved. If you close the project without saving, any files added since the last save are deleted.
