Importing User Modules into Crestron Studio®

Crestron Studio® allows you to import user modules you have created for use with other projects, modules you have received from a co-worker or downloaded from the Crestron web site.

To import a user module into Crestron Studio® follow the instructions below:

1. From the main toolbar chose the File menu.

2. Select the Import... option.

3. The Select Files to Import dialog opens:
   
   
   

4. If desired change the extension to or . By default the extension is set to All Importable Files.

5. Navigate to the desired module to import, select it and click the Open button.

6. The File Import Assistant dialog opens where you could specify the Import Location and Import Action.
   
   Choose Central for Import Location if you wish to import the module to the “Central Crestron Studio® database”, thus making the module available for use in any system. Alternatively, specify Project if you are importing the module to the current system/project only. Project modules would not be available for use in any other systems/projects, except the current one.
   
   Note that when importing individual modules, the only available Import Location is Central - signifying that the module will be available for use in any system project.
   
   

7. Press the Next button.

Note that imported user modules will show up in the User modules folder of the Symbol Library..

For generated/hybrid systems imported modules will also be displayed as User Devices in the Product Browser, thus they can be added to your system and programmed "SystemBuilder™ style" in the Design & Program section of System Designer.
